Questions About Our Forest Walks?
Everything you need to know about exploring the Gauja valley at your own pace
Most of our routes near Cēsis range from 2 to 5 kilometers, with plenty of spots to rest and take in the views. We tailor the distance to your group's comfort level—if you'd prefer a shorter walk or want to take it slower, we're flexible. Our guides know the terrain well and can adjust the route on the day.
Absolutely. We specifically design walks for older adults who want to enjoy nature without the pressure of a strenuous hike. Our pace is leisurely—think of it as walking with a friend who knows all the best stories about the forest. We stop regularly, and there's no expectation to rush.
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing in layers—the forest can be cooler than town. Good walking shoes or boots with grip are essential on our trails. Bring water, a light snack, and sunscreen. We recommend a small backpack and, in summer, insect repellent. Our guides will give you a full packing list when you book.
We keep groups between 4 and 8 people so everyone gets personal attention and the experience feels intimate, not like a tour bus. This size lets us move at a comfortable pace and have real conversations about what we're seeing.
We monitor forecasts closely and'll contact you at least 24 hours before if we need to reschedule. Light rain doesn't stop us—the forest is beautiful in the mist—but we cancel for lightning or heavy downpours. You can reschedule for another date with no penalty.
Yes. We have routes that work for people using walking poles or those who move more slowly. Some paths are flatter and easier underfoot than others. Contact us directly to discuss what would work best for you—we'll find a way to get you out in the forest.
